Tim Burton's newest movie The Corpse Bride was filmed using Canon 1D Mark II Digital SLR cameras with Nikon lenses and was edited using Apple's Final Cut Pro software on a G5. The Editors Guild has a detailed and interesting story about how the film was shot.

There are around a half a dozen people working on the Mac Media Center project. It's an open source project that is looking to develop software that will allow your mac to act like a TiVo, allowing you to record and play back television amongst other things. If you're a bleeding-edge Mac user, you're welcome to download the Pre-Alpha build of the software. The rest of us should wait and keep watch on this site to keep up with future developments.
I bought a home stereo system from the Philips Electronics Outlet and got a really good deal on it. Then, when I later wanted to look for a LCD or Plasma TV, I went to the main Philips site and tried to find the outlet section... it was nowhere to be found. They don't seem to promote it much, but they often have great prices on factory renewed and discontinued products.

The Slingbox is a simple device that plugs into any TV source and allows you to watch the source from many Windows machine that is connected to the Internet. It also allows you to control the TV source via a virtual 0n-screen remote control. That means you can hook it to your TiVo at home and watch live or pre-recorded television from a different room in your house, outside (via WiFi), or from a hotel room while traveling. All you need is a high-speed net connection at home and at the location you want to watch TV from.

If you're ever traveling and find your hotel Internet connection to be overly slow, then visit this speed test site before contacting the hotel to complain so you have some specifics about just how slow their connection is. I run this test each time I get to a new hotel just to get an idea of how slow my Internet experience will be when compared to my home connection. There are many other speed test sites out there, but I like this one because it has a clean look and allows me to choose from eight cities to test my transfer rates from so I can see if it's a localized speed problem.
I have yet to purchase a storage device to transfer images to while shooting in the field. All the ones I've seen are either too expensive for the simple task they need to perform (copy and store images transferred from a Compact Flash card), are too large to fit in my pocket, or gobble batteries so fast that you could never fill the device. I don't need to view my images... I just want them to copy as fast as possible onto a compact device that has a battery that will last for a weekend's worth of shooting. The device above is a new one from Western Digital that looks to be close to what I'm looking for.
